I have just recently moved into the Stockton area and while driving down Miracle Mile this cafe caught my eye. My mother and I stopped by this morning for a light breakfast before our day of errands. We walked into a clean and bright cafe with kind employees. She got a hot latte and I ordered an iced mocha. For food she chose the blueberry scone and I decided on the Stanley croissant. Delicious is an understatement. This croissant was just what I needed to get my day started. We even left with a chocolate croissant to go. We plan on returning soon!

Tried going here for the first time this morning, and got takeout. The food was good, but unfortunately my Ceaser salad had multiple small bugs still on the lettuce, both dead and alive ones. )-: Really sad because I already ate partially through the salad, and it was pretty good. Please wash your lettuce more carefully! Also got a muffin and it was quite dry. The waffles were really good though!

While I'm sad that Sam, Marzuka and Pierre are gone, I'm glad to know they've retired, sold the business and finally able to relax. With the new owners, they're in good hands. The food is still the same and same portions. Although the Kathy bagel isn't $5.50 anymore, it's due to rising food costs. But I didn't recall that it was a whole bagel. The fruit is really fresh! But now we need to go with the Turkish coffee. It's still made like how Sam, Marzuka and Pierre, as for strength, we gotta see. Because I went here all the time while I was at UOP, I had to grab this for my all nighters. It is not for the very faint of heart and while it's plain (no spices), you go so you can try it out and check out the coffee grounds at the bottom. I don't use sugar. I drink straight. Oh and now they have wifi and take credit cards, which didn't happen back then. I think the new owners did a great job of keeping the essence of House of Shaw, yet adding more modern touches and renovating the place. It no longer looks like your auntie's kitchen and living room. It looks like a typical cafe. But while times change and people come and go, this place will always keep its essence.

This place is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall with good food and good service. Don't expect anything in terms of décor or charm. That's not what they're about. What they are about is providing fresh food in a clean, hospitable environment to the locals in the Miracle Mile community. I LOVE their Mihran bagel, homemade lentil soup and their apple cake. Also look for their meatloaf sandwich which is not on their menu. They have an extensive coffee menu as well.

Sweet place just off one if the main drags in Stockton... initially confusing as we'd be expected to order at the counter or while seated. Chicken Caesar salad was amazingly good, turkey havarti on soft roll quite salty... and those peanut butter cookies...YUM. I asked for flatware but our neighbors ended up getting them... I have a good sense of humor so let it go but can understand that other patrons may have a shorter fuse. Bummer as without this hiccup 4 stars would have been given.
